My Book Burning. Was so fun doing this |>.<

 I had to light the book on fire in my kitchen and then run of the back before my hand would burn of fire o.o.
I like the paper turning into ashes but staying like a open book.

My library Photography.,. To show the layer out of the books and the order.

Is a HUGE inspriation to many projects I have been given, Including Homeage For Books. I have looks at a variety of different artist that use books and create them into great creations, Like so  Alexander Korzer-Robinson. New Sculptural Collages Made from Antiquarian .
He used a picture book and cut out very piture on a signal page, there is loads to looks at.

 Even through the gaps there is pictures of different things that are so lovely on its on.

This is a close up images of the book!

This is my book, I cut out all the back ground on the pages to make a bigger picture using every page in the book. I used a children book to make it easier as a sample and to see if I could be one of my final outcomes. I this is a success but I don't think it could be effective as a final piece just yet.
The colours in the book are not my chosen colours but I couldn't find a book with just 2 colours with it being full of writing.  I like the artist I have chosen and I would like to make another book and try to make one just like Alexander korzer-Robinson.

Plaster Mold.
 Firstly you get a bucket, Put at lest two jugs of water in the bucket, 500ml each time make sure its cold water.Then you add the plaster in small amounts. Sprinkle the plaster on top of the water forming island on the top. If the islands sink the plaster is not set, The island will stay on top of the water and float. When the plaster is set then its time to mix them both together! You put both hands in the bucket and mix them together rub in the plaster and water to make sure they are set. Then you have plaster mold what you like....!

My first idea I have was book burning which I wrote about earlier on my blog made me look into book burning, I burnt books and wood to see what happens when the book goes to ashes. I tried painting with the ashes that didn't work so I looked at more of a variety of it. I decided to burn quotes for book on to MDF which looked like a success. Firstly I created a few samples.
I used MDF word and a wood burning iron to created the words/quotes.
First quote is “A book without words is like love without a kiss; it's empty.” Andrew Wolfe
My second quote is ''A real book is not one that we read, but one that reads us.  Auden, W. H..
My last quote is There is no mistaking a real book when one meets it. It is like falling in love. Christopher Morley .
I think these quotes are lovely as wall hanging and I put them all into my sketch book hanging for rope and ribbon to make them look even more better.

For my final one I used the same method but a different quote, I lovely quote by William Shakespeare.
 "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."
 I like this quote because it really does sum up love. I wanted the ribbon to be white like Cupids wings.
During my time on Homage For Books I have looked at quotations in books that I would like to use in my work. I have come out with a lot of different quotes that I like but there was one I really like.
*[ My tutor Ben was creating a card for someone who was leavning and he told me the quote he wanted to use on his card. It was Peter Pan's quotation. Hearing that I  like it so I decided to look it up. The quotation is! '' Never say goodbye because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting.'' so then I took the quote and play around with it. I use letter ink on big sheets on paper and design around it what I wanted to acheve. I thought about put it into graphic and textile but i have used this method of working before.. So I play around using clay with one quotes from books. I then decided to use clay.
This is my clay idea. I firstly rolled out a bit of clay to do this is used a rolling pin and gides to help the clay stay the same shape all the way around.  I smoothed the top of the clay useing a kidney tool. to create the letter in the clay I used a letter stamp that presses into the clay. I then decided that it would be nice as a wall handing to give to a love one or a friend that is going away. So I put tewo holes in the top and when it is glases I will put ribow though the holes.
Plan.Glasing = Blue, Brown, White/Clear glase.
Underglade ?
Luster = Brown.
My theme colours are brown black and pink. I have mostly used brown and black.
This clay design will be one of my final outcomes beside many more of my designs.

I think this clay piece is a success, I like the idea of a quote from and book along side a wall hanging.
I like the quote, the letter stamps and the way it has been layed out.
The only problem was that it wasnt straight all around the edges but I know what to do on my other design.
Throughout 3D these few weeks I have looks at a varitey of way to use pewter (metal) methods, such as making my design out MDF. However the problem with this material is that  I can not deisgns that are circled and with a shaped round edges with the bandsow because the blade will snap. So I am using clay to mold my design any shaped I want it to be.

I had to design a letter with any style of writing, I chose calligraphy and my letter is "O". I then made my shape out of clay.  I made the letter shape rounded, this will help with smoothing the edges and make it more like a letter. I have to make my letter on a back ground to relief the letter. So it will not snap when I mold my deisgn.

This is my design finished and these are the tools I used to create this letter. I left marks to make it more old and vintage. These tools smooth, scratch the clay surface to leave a great finish.
  [*I will update you with my final pewter design later on when I finish.]

Rock! Paper! Scissors! (:
